NEWS

Congratulations! Thanks to you, 100 Words is back and better than ever. Since relaunching in January, we've had no serious problems. Everything is running as well, or better, than expected.

Some things to know:

The archives are still incomplete. We're recovering the old site slowly and remain optimistic. We expect good news sometime next week.

You can now review your existing entries. To see the entries you've already posted, click on MY ACCOUNT and choose ENTRIES.

No more advertising. No one's getting rich here. In fact, we're deeper in debt than ever. Google ads are not going to solve that problem, so why clutter the site? 100 Words will continue to run on goodwill and donations. Members who donate via Paypal will be rewarded with a plug in the "Member Websites" section, at right. For more information, click here.

Reveal yourself. We want to know what you look like. Or what you think you look like. Or what you want us to think you look like. If you haven't already, please upload a mugshot and thumbnail. Sign in, then choose MY ACCOUNT.

More to come. We have countless new features planned, but there's only so much time in the day. Please be patient as we improve the site. Your feedback, as ever, is welcome.

He woke me up in the morning. I loved it. This is how I want to wake up in the mornings. Afterwards, we ate breakfast together. Later, I watched some old episodes of Six Feet Under. I love it, and I love the characters in it. They are so lost in this world that it makes it easy to love them despite their flaws. In real world, it’s not at all that simple to love the messy nutty people around you or the one you are yourself. I guess it’s always most difficult to love yourself and especially forgive yourself.

I sat in the garden this afternoon watching the sprinkler going round and round. A buzzing sound caught my attention; it sounded like a bee. Finally I located the bee on the small pink lavender bush set this year in a terracotta pot on the patio. Some of the lavender’s forty flower heads are fully open revealing the petals, on others only tips of the unopened petals may be seen. The bee visited each in turn, its golden thorax contrasting with the pink flowers. On each back leg it had an orange pod, full of the nectar it had collected.

A large yellow dog, dragging a leash, ran under a car as I was walking towards the park. The driver jumped on the breaks; the dog continued its puzzled trot on the pavement, only to attempt suicide again two minutes later. Stupid mutt! I ran to it and grabbed the leash, half expecting it to bite. It just stopped, and let me pet it. Stupid mutt... Finally I found the owner: a half-conscious tramp with a can of beer in his hand. He was looking for the dog in a similarly confused way the dog was looking for him.

Cruising along at a good clip, driving wisely, staying alert. I was cruising on my bicycle down the narrow corridor between traffic and parked cars. It was a great day... until... WHAM! A truck door opened up in front of me. My body crushed against it. I spun around, four feet off the ground, slammed into a parked car to my right, hit the ground. Hard. My left arm screamed in pain; my chest felt as if it had collapsed. I slowly stood, checked for blood, protruding bones. Miracle: nothing serious. I decided to buy a helmet the next day.
